KINGSTON, JAMAICA

In the beginning of 2014, I was planning on going to a silent retreat in Maine during June 20-23 but I didn't attend the retreat, I have no regrets. I went to Kingston, Jamaica from June 17-26 for my father, Augustus Pablo's tribute which was a week of events, and a tribute show in memory of my legendary father's dub and reggae career. I had some uncomforable memories of my grandmother's death, so I felt like who would I come back for in Kingston, Jamaica. Addis was busy touring, and my uncle didn't talk to me, so I felt a bit distant emotionally, and physically living in New York City. But when I landed in Kingston, Jamaica all those feelings escaped me and it was so much good energy to be with my brother, and his friends and my father's older friends, and musical peers. My heart was set on the silent retreat but I realized I wanted to do that for me only and not for anyone else. So, my trip to Jamaica changed everything for me by being able to be apart of the celebrations in memory of my father. I videotaped, and photographed every minute of the trip, and that there was my spiritual retreat.
